Pet Treat Bakery

We are a family of animal lovers and we like to make homemade treats for our four legged family members.

At the farm live two dogs Sadie and Codie who are both big dogs, about 100 pounds each.  We also have two dogs that visit that are also big dogs Reese--a boxer--who belongs to Nathan and Michelle and Honey--a yellow lab-- who belongs to Nikole and Brad.

The first dog treats that I ever made were from a recipe that I got from Patty, my sister-in-law who made them for Harley, their black lab.  It is a great recipe and if you change the bullion flavor you can have a beef flavored treat one week and a chicken flavor the next.  There is the optional cheese which adds an additional element to the available flavors.

And then last fall we were looking for an item to donate to a silent auction fundraiser and decided to do a basket of assorted pet treats.   We used the Harley treats but also found a couple more recipes that we liked to do and were liked by our taste testers.   One was a peanut butter and oatmeal recipe and the other was a pumpkin recipe.

And then for Christmas 2013 I was looking for a recipe for treats for Honey's stocking and Nikole shared with me her recipe for soft pumpkin treats that Honey with her sensitive stomach can tolerate.  these treats are like a soft dog cookie and need to be kept in the refrigerator or frozen.

For Christmas 2014 we had three new dogs, Elke is our new puppy at the farm, Indiana (Indy) is Nikole and Brad's new puppy (yellow lab mix) and Greta is an older dachshund who Nathan and Michelle fostered and now have adopted.

The recipes:

Honey's soft pumpkin dog treats

Harley's favorite dog biscuits

pb dog cookies
